If you had the free version of Malwarebytes, that is completely compatible with any Norton product. If you had the paid version, that will cause problems.
MalwareBytes seems to have changed things a bit and something to be aware of.
When you install MalwareBytes and run it for the first time it offers to enable a trial period. I believe this trial period will include the enabling of real-time protection.
One must make sure to NOT have that box checked and I believe (recalling from memory when I had to recently uninstall and reinstall MalwareBytes) the box is checked by default.
Thanks for the heads up on that one... I haven't had to reinstall that program lately. .
Very odd. I just uninstalled and reinstalled MalwareBytes on my test laptop and this time I was not asked if I wanted to start the trial.
I don't know if perhaps this is a random question that it asks only sometimes or what. But I distinctly remember just a couple of weeks ago I had to uninstall and reinstall it and it did ask me that question.
However, I did find the following links substantiating that it may ask this question:
In particular note the second link which is directly from MalwareBytes support forum. It does in fact confirm that there is a version that will ask this question during install.
We were not saying you did. Rather I was just adding a caution that MalwareBytes does have a version out there that asks this question during installation and I recall that the box was checked by default. If one did not notice this and just clicked OK it would then have real-time protection enabled and the user may not even realize it.
This did not used to be the case and it is just one of those things to be aware of so that was the only purpose of me posting that.

Absolutely right in my experience -- if you check the box then it changes the already download MWB from free to Trial of Paid. I think that ties in with being able to do the reverse if you have the paid version; or I may be thinking of SAS for that feature.
It's back to the same old disappearing again...I just knew he was on the wrong track...
