Anti Spam to SPAM Folder in Thunderbird

A "solved" thread had this answer by guru huwyngr:

Thunderbird defaults to putting spam in a folder called junk and you can organize Norton AntiSpam to put the spam it labels in the same way as in Outllok Express -- [Norton AntiSpam] as part of the subject -- and put it into the Junk folder along with any that is identified as spam by Thunderbird.

Sounds great, but how is it done?

thanks!

First you should create the folder yourself.

Then there's an option in Thunderbird's setting to sort the incoming mails. There you should create a new filter, then the marked messages should go to the selected folder.

Let us know the results. Or if you need any more help.

That makes sense!

Thanks~

I remember it took me longer to find out how in Thunderbird you created a new message folder than to do the rest!

Perhaps you could remind us how you do it -- I don't exactly remember except that it was hidden away at the end of a chain of things I clicked on.

I'd try again but I've reverted to WLM ....

Creating a folder? Too easy, just right click on a folder and pick "new folder" :)

I use Outlook 2010 (previously 2003 and 2007) as my default email client, but I installed only for this Thunderbird to check it.

Here's how to do it:

1. Right click on your "email address" folder (or the one in you want to create the new folder)

2. Click on New Folder

3. On the new window name it

4. Click OK

or:

1. Click on the File -> New -> Folder menu item

2. On the new window browse to the main folder you want to create the folder (it's a bit strange how it manages these, Outlook is much more simple :P)

3. Name the folder

4. Click OK

Thanks both of you -- they must havea heard me swearing and changed it in a later version <g>

But it definitley was more complex and hidden when I did it because I had to ask someone and got directed into the bowels.
