Hello @ARTHURH_WRIGHT
As far as the recipient knows…the email you provide the recipient (online) is your actual email address.
That’s the point of masking your email via an email service like Private Email.
Were I using Private Email.
Private Email would not be used for correspondence with family/friends nor gov’t/banks/insurance/etc., and such.
Private Email would be used to prevent companies (online services/shopping) from gathering details about me and my online behavior.

AI Overview
Email masking, also known as email aliasing, is a privacy technique where you use a temporary, randomized email address instead of your real email address to sign up for services, websites, or online forms. These masked addresses forward emails to your primary inbox, protecting your actual email from spam, phishing attempts, and data breaches.
Key benefits of email masking: Privacy:
Hides your real email from websites and services, reducing the risk of spam and phishing.
Security:
.Protects your primary email from being exposed in case a website or service is hacked.
Organization:
Allows you to categorize and manage emails from different masked addresses, making it easier to track subscriptions and unsubscribe from unwanted services.
Anonymity:
Provides a level of anonymity when using forums, online communities, or other platforms where you might not want to share your real email address.
Data Analytics:
Enables organizations to collect user data without revealing individual identities.
How email masking works: Masking Services:
Services like NordPass, Firefox Relay, FastMail, and SimpleLogin offer email masking features. Generating a Masked Address:
These services generate a unique, randomized email address that is linked to your primary inbox. Forwarding Emails:
Emails sent to the masked address are automatically forwarded to your primary inbox. Tracking and Managing:
You can often track and manage your masked addresses within the service’s interface, allowing you to delete, disable, or block specific addresses.
When to use email masking:
Signing up for online services: To protect your primary inbox from spam and phishing.
Shopping online: To avoid unwanted promotional emails.
Joining forums and online communities: To maintain anonymity.
Testing new services: To assess the security of a new service before sharing your real email.
Internal communications: To protect employee privacy when sharing sensitive information.
Surveys and feedback forms: To encourage more honest responses.
In summary, email masking provides a simple and effective way to protect your privacy online by using a randomized address that forwards emails to your main inbox, while keeping your real email address hidden from others
