Have you recently installed any products? This folder contains some of that information for install and uninstall, so if you've recently performed either action, this folder will begin to fill. Thanks!

Barb,

I just posted an explanation about mysterious files with funny names in the NIS2008 Forum. If you like to read it click here and it will take you to it without you losing your place here.

Another thought -- you say it jumped again after listening to some songs.

Try clearing out temp Internet files. You can do this if you open My Computer, right mouse click on the icon for your main drive and select Properties.

You'll see a pie chart of the drive that you are probably familiar with -- click on [Disk CLean] and after it gives you a list of suggestions make sure that Temp Internet Files, Temp files and Recycle Bin are checked and then click on OK.

Then look to see if that astronomical total has been reduced.

Help!!  I scan regularly and usually have a bulk of files around 150.000.  Yesterday they shot up to 400.000 plus and the majority read as follows- C:Windows\installer\(various no's).  What does this mean?  Same thing happened a few months ago.  Check on C drive properties suggested that 95% of my computer was unused.  Tried to listen to 'birdsong' on the net and was informed I had insufficient space.  Ran a scan and my usual quota had shot up to 700.000 plus files.  I cannot locate these files on C drive or documents.  What are these files and where are they lurking.
