Spent 4 hours Friday downloading version 3.0 for my iPOD itouch. Could not update my touch with the new software, could not even do a restore to factory settings. My PC would freeze up and I would have to do a hard reset.
The Apple Tech said there was a known conflict with Symantec products blocking USB Ports. Is this true Symantec employees?
My 4 hour workaround was to create a new user account and restore and upgrade to 3.0. Then I went into my regular account (I have only one and there is only 1 user) and reinstalled iTunes.
Just curious as this Apple Tech seemed very helpful and knowledgeable.
Thanks in advance.
I have not had any problems prior to this upgrade and have 3 Apple products synched up to the same iTunes library so I find this a bit strange.
All of the Symantec products for home office users are "fully" compatible with Apple products. I am currently using Norton Internet Security 2009 and Norton 360 v. 3.0 and I dont have any problems with my iPod touch or iPhone 3G S when I plug-in to all of my computers. Before you had to reinstall iTunes, do you have the latest version of the product?
When you plug in the iPod into a USB port, is it visible when you go to My Computer. If it is visible, try right click and properties to see if the connection is blocked through auto play.

Check your PC if your computer have disabled auto play

Not on one machine I hope? never use two AV programs at one machine at a time.
I'm running 2009 now and recently upgraded my iPhone to v3 and no problems at all. With and without Jailbreak
