Normally, as soon as you go into Customize it allows you to move most toolbars around, but the Norton one stays locked. Is there another way to unlock the toolbar that I might be missing?
I don’t know FF but in IE you right mouse click on the toolbar and unlock/lock toolbars …
No, you cant move it or even add seperators or anything on to it.
I have the RoboForm Toolbar on top along side the Menu Bar, but can't do anything with the Norton toolbar.
Why do you want it there anyway, I just don't show it at all?
Hi,
It sounded like a great idea to me too ... and in my haste to make things look better, I've stuffed up a pretty stable and workable FF desktop. Bummer. Some add-ons don't seem to play fair with others and I ended up stipping stuff out and putting it back together piece by piece.
Operator error - mine.
PLEASE NOTE: I've seeing evidence of the toolbar outside of IE and FF. I'm seeing evidence of chinese characters affecting other microsoft DLL's, files, etc. Most of this appears limited to VISTA ULTIMATE.
Which came first - the chicken or the egg? See image below ...
Seems odd ... always did. never made sense to me that NIS alone was affected by asian charset but then I don't know what metadata is stored / used in the toolbar or security algorithms.
Asian charset appearing in a a store near you :(
Here is weird toolbar behaviour in Vista Ultimate (present but won't come out to play).
It's present in XP PRO too - as are other toolbars (PDF creator, AUSTLII [legal research], Roboform etc). I *think* these are activex or something more significant than most add-ons because their impact extends well outside FF.
Have we broken things ourselves with all of these tools?
Just a thought.
So to specifically answer your question: I can't find any published way to alter the location of the Norton Toolbar and it is not worth the hassle of trying to do this the hard way. Solved perhaps?
As for these other matters ... they need monitoring in the short run??
Thanks for the responses guys. I guess the only reason I want to see it is that sometimes I log into Identity Safe manually, so I need access to the toolbar. It’d be nice if I could at least move it to share another partially filled line, but turning it off all together would be another option.
Just wondering if there’s a way to do this. I don’t like that it has to take up its own line and just want to move it up so that it shares a line with another toolbar.
I can understand your frustration, maybe you could cosider doing what I have done and use RoboForm instead of Identity Safe to access your identities, at least their toolbar can be easily moved around FF and fits in very neatly.
I’ll have to check that one out. Thanks.
HAve you tried unlocking the toolbar and dragging the Norton toolbar (look for the dotted | to the left of NORTON and you may be able to shrink the Norton Toolbar and reposition it but I’ve seen conflicting reports on this.
