I re-installed Norton Ghost 9 from the CD after removing all Norton products to clear a corruption in my Norton Firewall software. The CD installed version 9.0.0, but the first-time round (in 2006) I ran LiveUpdate, which updated the version of Ghost to 9.0.2 - a much better version than the original in a number of ways.
This time LiveUpdate will not update Ghost, saying it is already up to date - even though it is not. It appears from Norton online help that they no longer support Ghost 9 so no longer make available these updates to LiveUpdate, which seems strange; but anyway. . . .
Before removing Ghost I backed up Ghost directories and I have the update files that I think LiveUpdate downloaded back in 2006 to upgrade to v.9.0.2 (1122653960jtun_nortonghostall902en_package.zip.full.zip and norton$20ghost_9.0.0_english_livetri.zip). What I don't know is if or how I can manually run these to perform the upgrade.
To the best of my knowledge, you can't manually apply those updates. Run LiveUpdate after installing the product and see if it prompts for a reboot. Let us know how it goes. Also, let us know what version it prompts you to when you install the latest updates for the product through LiveUpdate.
Thanks for the response. I have re-installed Ghost 9 and it shows version 9.0.0. I have run LiveUpdate several times since and it reports that all Norton software (including Ghost) is up to date. When I did this back in 2006 (my original Ghost 9 installation), LiveUpdate updated the software to 9.0.2 in mid-2006. I have cleared out the LiveUpdate downloads directory in case LiveUpdate was seeing the original update file and assuming it had been applied, but that did not work either.
I think Symantec has discontinued support for Norton Ghost 9 way back in 2006. Probably the updates for Norton Ghost 9.0 might also be removed from the LiveUpdate server. I dont think there is any way to update your version of Norton Ghost 9.0 to 9.0.2. I would suggest you to upgrade to Norton Ghost 14.0 if possible.
