While waiting for a reply in the context of Norton, try a Google on epmap and you’ll at least find definitions of it.
I did. And as always with Google, 98% of the entries about computer items are virus scar attempts by 2nd rate products. Thats why I’m happy there is this site. Guess while I’ll wait, I’ll post another question

I'd run a Google search before posting and that was not my experience. The first reference that came up was:
http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-1771.html
which describes what epmap is without any scaremongering.
But I agree with you about the Norton Forums -- they are great.
Hi all. Like this site. here is my first post:
I was fiddling on my computer and looked at some of the running process. I have an HP desk Top using Vista Home Premium and running Norton AntiVirus 2008. I have DSL hook up, so always on. Browser is IE7
I periodically browse the logs to see whats up. Anyway, yesterday I after looking and clicking on a few running processes, I noticed something in my Activity Log. It indicated that there was a connection from my network adapter and my computer and then a second one between my computer and the network adapter showing some small amount of bytes exhanged and someting about "epmap"
I googled this and noticed that there is sometimes bad things about "epmap". But then none of the google entries said anything about network adapters. Anyone able to shed any light on this? I'm most concerned if it is something like a virus.
Oh, let me add that I never noticed this before and it happened right after I was just checking things on my computer. so I don' think its some type of intrusion.
