I've got an s7 edge with a paid subscription to Norton mobile security. The app advisor keeps telling me that 4 apps are sharing my location and sending it to various locations. These are the Dictionary app (location sent to Sessionm. Inc, in Boston, MA) Where's the bus (location unknown) and 2 children's games - Masha and the bear and Masha, run (both location unknown). I've only allowed the bus app to have access to my location, so I'm not sure why the other 3 are accessing it. Looking through the threads here I realised that might have something to do with ads, but I've bought one of the Masha games and so have removed the ads. They seem to be legitimate apps, all downloaded from the playstore. Should I be worried or should I ignore these?
Thank you very much, this makes sense!
The App Advisor informs you of what an app wants to do. If you subsequently block that feature, in this case the location, using the device's security functions, your location information will not be sent. The App Advisor just warns of permissions required, and then you make a decision whether or not you are comfortable with those permissions, or if you have a way to bypass them.
App Advisor is not a real time scanner telling you what the app is doing.
If you do not want to see the app listed in the security score on the main NMS screen, you can trust the app.
