Dear Norton Team, Been using your product since I was 10, always purchased your products. My phone keeps getting malware loaded onto it. Even after scans and removing all apps, I get ads and the apo advisor gets switched off auromatically. Please do let me know what other details I can provide to make your product an awesome one for android users. Regards, Lawrence the Norton fan My phone details: Android version 5.02 Lenovo z90-7
Will update you with screenshots once I get to replay the actions of the malware. Below are the characteristics that I have monitored so far:
-
Launch pop up ads once I unlock my phone (ads ranging from porn to casino) , where I have never downloaded nor watch unclean films on this phone.
-
at random times in a day when I open up my browser , I will get redirected automatically to a random site asking me to download a plugin.
-
the malware downloads lots of .apk files ranging from games to porn related .apk
Do let me know what other technical details that you need, and I will provide them soonest. I reply slow because I’m currently travelling to places with little internet connection
Can you give an example of the malware, you are seeing? Is Norton detecting it?
Thanks peterweb for responding. I download my apps from the google play store and since the beginning I bought my phone I have also disabled the option " Slow installation of apps from unknown sources". Are there any mitigation steps that I can take or force deletion of apps which was preinstalled by the manufacturer? Does Norton have a remote function where they can analyze the app I installed and the malware in my phone? Thanks Peterweb for helping me on this matter
Regards,
Lawrence syh
Where are you downloading your apps?
Have you disabled the option to Allow installation of apps from unknown sources in Android settings?
