I have recently had a problem with what appears to be " trojan.U83". It pops up whilst I am on Ebay and has a logo for Apple Care protection plan. There is a note that my system has three viruses and that my banking info is at risk. I have done a full system scan but Norton security has not picked this up. I'd really appreciate any suggestions on what to do. Thanks.
desilu You're most welcome. If your issue was resolved please by all means mark the appropriate post as the solution so others may then see the solution.
Hi SoulAsylum. Thanks for asking :) As it happens though, the popup is still there. Malwarebytes didn't find any problems on my computer and I contacted Norton and one of their technicians took control of my machine to reset safari (the browser) and clear the cache, etc. But, two days later the popup appeared again while I was on an eBay page. I may just have to live with it. What I have found on Google about it says that it is a popup that imbeds itself in you files and that it is an advert for a disreputable outfit. If anyone knows of a way to completely dislodge this scourge I'd appreciate it.
If SoulAsylim's suggestion does not help, what you may be seeing is malformed ads on web sites you are visiting. See if you can install an ad blocker in your browser. That should stop that kind of attack.
Hello desilu Download Malwarebytes and run the program. Its totally free for 14 days and runs great alongside other products as well. https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/
