Hi.
Earlier this year I subscribed to Norton to protect my computer (mac). I recently realized that since a few days there has been a second app installed on my mac (I did not install anything), which seems to be a second Norton? I don’t get what’s going on. On my launchpad I have one app called “Norton AntiVirus” (old app), and another one just called “Norton” (new app). I am wondering why would there be 2 apps, they also do not have exactly the same logo. The one that got installed recently has a slightly different hue of yellow and there is no TM, while the other one does have one. Also, whenever I opened the “new” app, it tells me that “Norton needs my authorization to analyze my computer and protect it” and then asks me to change a bunch of settings to give the program more access rights. I don’t know if this is fake but if it is, its done extremely well. I have not accepted any changes because this seems very weird to me. I tried running a scan with the “first” app, and it doesn’t detect anything strange. Can someone explain this to me? Thank you
Hello Stephane. Remove BOTH instances of Norton reboot and reinstall your Norton product again. That should clear the issue. Norton updates itself to the newer version automatically when automatic updates are set.

I did and now only the second version is on my computer. If its just the new version I don’t get why Norton didn’t just update itself instead of duplicating itself into a new version and keeping the old one. Its a shame because this newer one looks less ergonomic and inspires less confidence than the earlier one, but I guess that’s how it is! Thank you for your answer.
You’re most welcome. I agree with you regarding the new 24.xx version. In your case evidently the update to the new version hit some snag and didn’t complete properly. Hoping Norton get the issues worked out and do so sooner than later. Its hard to suggest to users like you and I, to revert to the older version and disable automatic updates to prevent the 24.xx version from reinstalling automatically. And use the intelligent updater to stay current with definitions. We shouldn’t have to be doing that. Its like we are having to monitor software that should be monitoring us and do so in a way that the everyday user can understand and use.
