All the major browsers allow you to configure various privacy and security settings to suit your preferences. So it is less important which browser you use, and more important how you set it up. Go into the browser settings and make the privacy and security options as tight as you like, knowing that the more secure you make things, the more likely it is that you may have trouble with certain websites. The best course is to implement strong security and privacy measures globally and then make exceptions for particular websites on a case-by-case basis when the need arises. One thing you will want to do is block JavaScript globally and only allow it for a website when the site will not work without it. Most sites do require JavaScript these days, but by only allowing it for the website you are visiting, you prevent third-party content on the page from running scripts -- so a malicious advertisement, for example, would still be blocked. The NoScript extension for Firefox and Chrome is a really good way to accomplish this, although it will take a bit of practice to become familiar with how to use it, as you will often need to decide which of many content providers on a page will need to be allowed in order for the page to work correctly. It takes some trial and error at first, but eventually it becomes intuitive.
