Care to tell us what the other security programs are?
Please also include if they are Free, Pro or Trial versions.
Sorry, I will not state, on a public forum, all the details of my computer’s security measures. I think it is enough to say that my other security software seems to have worked fine with Norton for most of the last 18 months. If my problem may be the result of Norton incompatibility with other security software, could you please point me to some publicly available information on know Norton software incompatibilities.
Suit yourself - let me just say that any two or more security programs that run in real-time can conflict with each other, as well as more than one firewall running at the same tme can conflict with each other.
BTW, some of the conflicts created by more than one program running real time and conflicting with Norton is well docuimented in these public forums.
Oh Joy its back working yet again, for no apparent reason. Prehaps the explanation is that Norton software requires a two day holiday every few weeks, who knows? If it happens again I shall try uninstalling my other security software, and if that doesn’t work I guess I’ll be back . Thanks anyway.
Hello Prunesqualer
If you decide to uninstall the other security program which you have currently running, please use the removal tool from the other company in addition to the removal using the Programs and Features. If your Norton product was the 2nd product installed, it would be a good idea to uninstall and reinstall your Norton Product also, but back up your identity safe first if you use it. Please remember that security products go deep inside your computer and it will need a thorough cleaning out beforereinstalling your Norton product. Thanks.

Here is what Symantec says about running extra security programs.
Just to say I got an e-mail from the Norton Community asking me to "view the replies and mark one as an Accepted Solution." Unfortunately, because of the intermittent/sporadic nature of my problem I am unable to say whether any of the advice has worked. I’ll maybe let you know in a few months.
