Attempt to load cleanup engine failed - Norton 360

hi Nils - i've been following along this and another thread on another board and am wondering if this is not permissions related. you might try the ACL rebuilding suggestion in this MSDN developer blog as a first step. if that doesn't do it, can you confirm that Windows Defender is disabled and the service is shut down? it's possible that 360 is failing to get access to a key as a result of Defender.

There was a knowledge base article written on this issue recently that may help you out:

 

Error: "Attempt to load the cleanup engine failed" is displayed next to PC Tuneup scan results in Norton 360 2.0
