Automatic Update will not complete - and this is not related to my ISP

Hi,

Last week, Norton suddently started being unable to automatic update, and claims it is because it can't connect itself to the relevant site.

I get the error message

"We are unable to communicate with one of our servers. Would you like to attempt to correct this problem by releasing and renewing your IP settings?"

which repeats itself over and over again whether i say yes or no. So automatic update never completes.

 

The only modification i can think of that occurred is that i added a wireless printer to my home wifi network some time a couple of weeks ago. Could that be the reason?

I know there are threads about this topic already - but they seem to argue it's an ISP problem. I got this message with both LAN ethernet connection, and with wifi connections. and my wifi provider is not orange, or any of the usual suspects. so i don't think this is an ISP problem.

 

Any help would be most welcome.
