Norton antivirus does auto scans at whim - and almost always when I am USING my computer. So memory in use, mouse and keyboard all in active use, and there goes the pop up "Starting full system scan", and there goes my performance
I initially set it for times I knew I wouldn';t be using teh computer. Didn't matter. The computer would start them later when I was actively using my computer.
And yes - I have set it to "only at idle" - tried both ways many times, and it makes NO difference - it is like an idiot switch (just there to be toggled and has no actual purpose). The setting is absolutely useless.
I got so tired of it I set to it to NOT do auto scans at all - only do manually triggered scans. Except another idiot switch. It does not matter that it is set TO NOT DO AUTISCANS< it stills runs auto scans. With all teh competition out there, this is not making me want to stay with Norton products. If you are going to include the neccesary switches like being able to turn things off, and to tell them when to do things, THEY SHOULD WORK.
It is almost as if there is some asinine PR code that forces it to do scans when you are using your computer so you know it is there - but instead of just being like an super annoying pop-up, it pops up and then destroys the performance while trying to actually work.
And yes, the latest updates.
NOT acceptable.
