AV scans when nothing is scheduled to scan, and then it hangs.

Hello all,

 

I have Norton AV for Mac, 11.1.1 (2) on an IMac G5 with OS 10.5.8.

 

Previously, I had it set up with once-a-week scheduled scans of my harddrive and My Passport external drive.  But everytime it would perform the scans it would hang and it wouldn't let me cancel or pause the scan.  The only way to stop it was to Restart or Shut Down.  So I got rid of the scheduled scans.

 

Now, it seems to still do the scheduled scan of My Passport whenever it feels like it, at random times throughout the week.  And it always hangs at the same place: at something called Windows Media.sitx.

 

any help with this is greatly appreciated,
