I recently turned off my computer. When I switched back on, Norton had not only backup to cloud, it has removed all my files from desktop.
I am currently waiting for them to restore.
Have I done something wrong re settings, as I thought backup would simply copy to cloud?
@Spud2025 Did you power down the computer while the backup was in progress? Norton backup would not continue running and stopped when the computer powered down. Are you sure there wasn’t any Windows updates that were installing?

Hi, I wasnt aware that the backup was in progress so I may well have turned the power down during this time.
Ahh thanks for the reply. Have you been able to restore the files that were removed or no? What is your Windows version and build? You may be better served to restore the computer to a restore oint date just prior to the incident and start again from there. Recheck your Windows Updates again to ensure you are all current with them.

Yes I have restored the files thank you.
Windows 11 and 64 bit op system x64 based processor
My Windows Updates are set to update automatically.
Apparently (I wasnt aware initially) we had a power out at some stage on Friday - would that account for it? If it was mid-back up?
That could be a part of the issue at hand. Disruption of Windows Updates while they are in progress of their installation phase has caused serious issues in the past, I have personally experienced it. I haven’t ever had a computer shut down during a Norton or other backup or imaging session and cannot validate for you but yes. This can cause major issues.
