Back up stopped; Status permanently pending; Asks me to activate

Hello forum

I've been using Nortons 360 for automatic online backups for some years and it has worked well. But following my last automatic renewal (in December), the back up has stopped.

When I click FIX IT, I either get a PENDING message, or an error. When I click the error hyperlink, I am asked to ACTIVATE my online subscription. It seems like it's treating me as  anew customer, even though I've been using the feature for years.

I go to MY ACCOUNT, but can't see anywhere where I can activate my online back up. (I still have 2 Gb of available space, so I can't have run out of space.)

Any ideas"

Cheers

Geoffrey

Hi gmarnell.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums. :smileyhappy:

As my online backup has been activated I do not think I will have the same screens as you will but I believe that if you open N360 and go to the Backup section, select Manage Backup Sets and select the "Where" tab.  There it should either show your online backup storage or give you the option to Activate it.  If it does the latter then select that and sign in.

I hope that helped.  If not come back and hopefully someone else will have a better idea.

Good luck.

Thnaks Andmike.

I found the link (where you said it would be), and now I have another problem. When I click the activate link I keep getting the message "We are unable to proceed with Norton Account at this time. Please try again later".

I try again later ... and ... later ... and still get the same message.

Hi gmarnell.

Glad you found the link.  Shame about the result.   :-(

It may just be a temporary server issue at the Norton end so if I were you I would give it 24 hrs or maybe until next week.  However you could also try logging into your account from some other Norton log on point and check that a normal log on is working...

If this is not resolved in 48 hrs please come back again.  If it is resolved come back anyway and let us have the good news.  ;-)

This may sound roundabout but give the following steps a try:

  • Open Norton 360's main client.
  • Click on Manage on the right hand side.
  • Click on Log Out located to the right. It is a darker grey color so it may be a difficult hard to see.
  • Once done close Norton 360 and re-open it.
  • Go back to Manage again and re-login to the Norton Account.
  • Once completed go back to the main Norton 360 screen and click on Backup.
  • Click on Restore Files.
  • Click on View All
  • There will be a link on the bottom of the next screen that says Refresh List.
  • It'll connect to storage from there and retrieve the past history.
  • Select the set and click Close.
  • Close out of Norton 360 and give the system a restart to be safe.
  • Once its back up verify if online backup has properly activated.
