Back Up taking up over 800GB on my External Hard DRIVE!

Hi

After trying multiple times, Norton won't complete my back up because my external hard disk (of 1TB!) is apparently full. My laptop only holds 250GB so what is going on?! I don't have anything else on my external hard drive, and there should definitely be more space. How do I fix this? All I want is everything backed up on my hard-drive, it shouldn't be this hard.

Welcome,

I'm going to guess that your backup set isn't exactly what you want it to be. The normal mode for backup is to establish a base, full backup and then do incremtal backups. Have you looked at the files on your backup drive so that you can tell us what is there? What is your schedule for backing up? Are you doing a full backup of the drive or a files and folders backup? Your response will help us help you.

Thanks

Hi,

The files on my backup drive consist of ARestore, ARestore.loc, and N360_BACKUP. I don't have a schedule for backing up, Norton has yet to do a complete one. I ran it by going through 'PC Security' --> 'Run Scans' --> 'Full System Scan'. I believe I'm doing a Full Backup.

Thanks!

I recently purchased a western digital passport external hard drive and have been unable to use it as I received instructions that my norton back up is preventing it use.  Should I delete the norton back up program?
