Back up

On looking at my backup it seems that only  my music files are being backed up. I have tried managing back up sets but it will not back up my documents or photos. Is this because they are backed up in One Drive?

Thanks

Pat

I have been trying to do my scheduled back up but have not been successful. I am now asked to log in. I have never been asked to log in nor do I have any idea what my log in info would be. I am current with my Norton subscription and have done back up before but this new requirement has stopped me from being able to accomplish this. Is there some way I can get in contact with Norton to try to figure this out??

Thanks for any advice.

have you tried backing up a single file

Rely me with the results

Thanks and regards

Hi,

How big is the file and where is it being backed up to?

Hi,

I am new to this & use Norton online backup.  My question is, if my computer fails, how do I access Norton to restore my files if I don't have a working computer?

Thank you Andmike.  Don't know why I didn't think of that.  Guess I thought that I needed the backed up files to get my computer working again.  Don't suppose the backed up files include the basic Windows Vista program etc, just the stuff that I put on my computer.  That makes sense now.

Hi,

Even if the normal backup did contain the operating system program files you would still have a problem. Backup is not designed to install files, it just copies them. The operating system requires that its file be installed. There are ways to do this and you can get help here on how to prepare yourself and your system for such an event.

Thanks Dick.....You're a champion!

G15 will load on Win8.1 but will not activate, it will also run a backup but it will not recover.

You will need SSR 2013 desktop to support Win8.1.

I'm not sure the original poster is using Ghost. They could be using 360 or Online Backup. SSR 2013 does not support Windows 8.1 yet.

It does Red because I have got it installed and working on my test machine.

Deric

It does not support windows 8.1 Deric.

Try restoring the image of the operating system if you don't believe me.

Dave

A bit late now, I will get back to you tomorrow.

Dave,

This time I have to disagree with you,

I ran two recoveries on the Dual boot test machine (Win8.1Pro and Win7 Pro).

The first one I recovered as I normally do by selecting the recovery point (both O/Ss ticked) and recovered ok.

The second one I selected the same recovery point but took the tick out of Win7 Pro and it recovered Win8.1 again with no problems.

I also used LOR to recover the machine (much quicker than the disk) but that didn't work and I had to recover a third time using the same recovery point.

So I am absolutely sure that SSR 2013 supports Win8.1Pro with the SRD, we used to get a problem with G15 showing a "Invalid" drive but SSR 2013 seems to be quite stable for me.

You always do.

I see your also disagreeing with the Symatec employees and everyone on the other forum that says it does not work.

If you take a few minutes to read the other posts and the work-around someone suggested right before your post you should figure out why it worked for you and is not working for everyone else.

I already have mate,

I recon that my system is a bit special and unique and don't need a work arround.

The truth is that I can make anything work.:smileywink

Thanks for all of your help but that was noot the probllem at all..

:smileyfrustrated: Im using windows 8.1 an I had to set up a recovery drive an a back up I used the D drive

instead of the C, I have a lot of back ups that Norton settings can not see them. How to delete these. I also had them in my Skydive. Today Norton couldn't locate a place to back up so I set it to the C drive. Any help much appreciated...
