Background scans locks up system

I recently updated to 20.2.19 and my computer now locks up whenever a background scan begins at idle.

 

I have a Toshiba Salellite running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. 

I had previously been using Ad-Aware Pro, and it had reported a conflict with Norton when I was trying to upgrade it, so I have uninstalled it, and so far, things appear to be working.

Hi,
If your previous security product has removal tools on their site be sure to run them.

If you do then it would be a good idea to run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool

to make sure the copy on your system is clean and complete. Run live update until the program tells you that all of the updates have been downloaded and installed.

I had a corrupt .dll file, and once I got it fixed, the same problem occurred.

 

So, I downloaded the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, and did the deed. It wasn't as daunting a task as I thought, and so far, things seem to be working well.
