Background tasks

How do I disable my Norton 360 from running background tasks?  I am a court stenographer, and every time I am in a deposition, which is a high load on my computer, that seems to be the time Norton chooses to run background tasks, such as a full system scan.  It causes my court reporting software to freeze.

Hi,

You can disable background tasks by entering "Silent Mode", but in silent mode you wont see any alerts and all the important background tasks will not run for you, if you still feel its very important to disable all background tasks then Click "Settings" link from Norton 360 UI, Check "Silent Mode" check box under "Quick Controls", "Turn On Silent Mode" dialog will be shown with the "Duration" option, please select the duration and enter silent mode.

If you had finished the deposition then please come out of the Silent Mode immediately and allow all the background tasks and alerts to be shown and perform the necessary actions.

FWIW - you can open HELP and read about Quiet Mode.  You can manually add programs that you want to place N360 in Quiet Mode.  When Quiet Mode is turned on, N360 suspends the background activities but does not suppress alerts and notifications. Once you exit the program, Quiet Mode will turn off and everything will be back to "normal".

Bear in mind in order to add a program to the list, it must have a .exe. file extention.
