That error means it was unable to read a file. Generally means one of the files selected was inaccessible even to the open file technology the service utilizes. If you go into the logs it should give you further detail. Have you had the opportunity to review the log or is that all its listing?
i have.. ive also had problems with my harddrive... could that b a problem too????

Yes, a failing drive can cause this error. If it is only a few files causing the issue and everything else has been successfully backed up online you may want to try making copies of the files to alternate media. Windows may give you access to them via safe mode but Norton Online Backup may not work in that particular instance.
I have the same problem. I just bought Online back-up. It got a little way into the back-up then failed with this error code. However there is no other information. If it is a file error where can I find out which file? You refer to error logs but I cant find a line to these othan the one telling me this error code?
Are you having any hardware issues as well? What version of Windows are you using?
Thanks for the reply. No hardware issues that I know about! I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.
In addition to this problem, I loaded the backup onto 2 other pcs.
One completed one backup successfully (32MB) then failed with a 2028 code. It repeated a few times then failed with a W32 code. This backup was supposed to be 9.23 GB (I have loaded a chunk of pictures since the first back up!).
The other pc also failed with a 2028 code even though it took an age to try and complete. It is telling me that the failed back up was 7.54 GB
Both these pcs are running Windows XP
Until now I have only used 2 GB of the 25GB.
