I am trying to run a BackUp to an External Hard Drive from my Norton 360 interface. It is set up properly and runs through the whole scan, but when it finishes I receive the message "Failed: Encrypted Files Encountered". However, when I scroll through the Advanced Details I see no evidence of failed or encrypted files.
What should I do to ensure that all my files are backed up successfully?
Norton 360 will skip backup of encrypted files. Please confirm whether you are not having any encrypted files in your backup set.
You can check the files backed up either in the results page which comes once the backup completes>>click details link or you can check in Security History. (Tasks>>Check Security History>> Select Backup in the Show list provided >> click on the backup set of yours >> More Details)
I did as you suggested above and I saw no encrypted files in the list. Everything listed says "Backed Up." Can you please suggest something else? Thank you.
Try deleting your backup set and starting with a new backup set. If you are getting the same error message, try creating a new backup set and just add one or two types of files (e.g. picture, video, office files) or file locations at a time and see if you can at least narrow down what the problem is. I was getting the same error and I broke my backups into three sets. I never did find the file that was causing the problem, but the backups worked.
