Backup Failing... pretty much continuously

Hi,

I’m using what the Play store says is the current version of Norton Mobile Security, and I’ve got the paid license. I am running it on an HTC Droid Incredible 2, with Gingerbread O.S.

All seems to be well - I see it scanning downloads, live updates happening regularly and on demand, etc.

However, the daily backup of contacts has not run successfully since December 19. The activity log has many mentions of phone-in-use errors, and that’s fine. But there are many more backup failed errors, with no explanation. I also get an error when I try to manually back up - a vague and unhelpful please try again later message.

There is a valid connection - I can click Run Live Update and succeed, but then try to manually back up immediately after, and I fail.

Help?

Thanks!

And, of course, guess what just succeeded after no changes made… Ah, the technology gods sure do have laughs at our expense, don’t they?

Hi pkwilliams823

Welcome to the Norton Community. :smileywink:

That is great news that the Norton Mobile Security features now are working

ok for you.

The technology god features are now smiling down on you.:smileyhappy:

Cheers. :smileywink:

The same thing is happening to me, paid version of Mobile Security, no backups since January 8. Got from Google Play and upgraded to paid version. Had backups set to daily, beginning day after Christmas, stopped working a week ago. Nexus 7, Android 4.2.1.

Hi sibhusky

Welcome to the Norton Community. :smileywink:

You could try something which is to uninstall Norton Mobile Security from the Android device that

you have the issues with and reinstall and sign in again.

After signing in it should again activate and register under the previous settings.

Might be worth a try. :)

Cheers. :smileywink:

I wasn’t sure I could do that without having issues reinstalling. will try.

Did that with massive effort, had to remove device from my account and then download again, reinstall, reregister,. After many attempts at all this it says service not available.

Hi sibhusky

Appologies that it was a massive effort to uninstall and reinstall NMS, but it was

worth a try to resolve the issue. :)

The issue has been reported to Symantec Norton and hopefully will be resolved

as soon as possible. :)

Just try to run a Contacts Backup from time to time to see if the issue is fixed.
.

And keep us posted on how you go as that would be much appreciated. ;-)

Cheers. :smileywink:
