Hi Mike,
Which operating system are you using? Is there anything atypical about your system setup - hardware or software RAID, multiboot system? Norton Save & Restore reports all warnings and errors to the Windows Event log. Could you look at the application event logs and check for any warnings/errors from NSR, Ghost Service, V2i, Volume Shadow Copy Service, etc? Have you run LiveUpdate in NSR until there are no more updates? Any additional information you can provide is appreciated. Thanks!
Tony,
I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition, Service Pack 3. There is nothing atypical about the configuration of the computer. I have two external disk drives attached (Western Digital USB drives, one 250GB and one 500GB). Since I first posted this issue a few days ago, I have removed my Norton products (NIS 2008 and S&R 2.0) and reinstalled them. I have also reformatted both external disk drives. When I attempted to do a backup after doing the above, I received an application error about 75% of the way through the backup. The error went something like this "VProSvc.exe application error instruction at "0x052dc7f3" referenced memory at "0x206ec894" could not be read. Then S&R displayed a message "unable to connect to agent, service not running". And that's where I'm at currently. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
/Mike
Hi all. I just began using Save and Restore 2. on my computer.( Hp Pavillion with a dual core processor.) I am running under XP (SP2). Did the install with no problem and made a custom recovery disk (although no driver errors showed up during the install). Downloaded and installed the update. I am trying to do a full backup of my HD which has 2 partitions ( the second of which , 'D' is a Hp recovery system of some sort which I have never used. )
The 'C' drive which is the one I am trying to backup has about 68 gigs on it. I am backing up to an external 250 gig HD via a USB 2.0 port which I have used without problems to backup individual files in the past and which is mostly empty. I am now into my 25th hour and I am only 66% done. Granted this is easier than backing up to DVDs but this can't be right. I have it set to the fastest speed (although there seems to be little, if any, reduction to running other programs.) Ideas? Suggestions? Any help would be gratefully accepted. The computer is in the bedroom and the fan noise (such as it is) bugs my wife. and she is beginning to bug me about it. Thanks, in advance.

Give her some ear plugs?
Just kidding!
O.K. Lets try a different tack. What sorts of times have others found were required to backup their harddrives? (Size v.s. time). Thanks , in advance for any info. Maybe the problem is with my external HD. or drivers. (I/OMagic 250 gigs) I am assuming that this is different then the IOmega rev.drive mentioned in the readme as having known issues with the driver.
