Backup Overlays - Grey X?

Using Norton Security Suite v5 (basically Norton 360)

I have been having issues with Backup correctly grabbing all my files.  I think I solved that by adding folders.

Now my issue is the backup overlays.  Some folders, everything is green checks.  Other folders, everything is grey "X"s.  I check files that are in the Preview of the backup, so they should be backed up, and they are grey "X"s.

I assume all these files should have green checks if they are backed up??

Any help here?

thx

If I remember correctly, the grey icon with the slash means that you excluded it from backup.  It's located in a path that would normally be backed up but it has been excluded.  Try right clicking on the folder and see if you get an option to add to backup.

Or check the backup options (What) and see if it or one of the parent folders has been excluded.

The green with checkmark means it's backed up and the blue with arrow means it's a new or changed file that will be backed up next time it runs.

An online rep agreed that it meant it was not backed. But it is.
I did a complete restore and all the files show up (I restored to a new location). In fact, files that I deleted previous were still in the backup.
I am wondering if there is some date screw up.
I am considering deleting the entire backup set and trying to ‘zero’ it out and start from scratch. Problem is I have this problem on all 3 of my computers. Does the backup set it screwed up if you modify the set after its been backed up before??
Don’t know why this is so difficult.

Hello SpartanGA

The files will restore if they have been previously backed up despite the exclusions made. The only way to stop them from being restored in the future is to purge them via the Norton Drive. Going forward they won't be available for restore nor count towards your quota as long as you don't re-select them for backup.
