Backup Problem

I run Norton 360 on my PC.  Today, after running a full scan and back up on my PC it said that my backup had not been complete, run backup again or change my settings.  Also get a Red button Fix Now.

I have checked my settings, all OK.  I have deleted the old backups and rerun back up, it does back up my files but I still get the same info at the end, ie Back up has not been successful and a fix now button.

I am backing up onto a Terebyte External Drive with 821Gb free.

Gratefull for some assistance.

Danke für die Antwort;

Please try the solution mentioned here:

Thanks,

Thank you for the link HarryP.  Tried that, still runs backup, backs up 4 files, and still says Backup not complete with a Fix Now red button.

Try creating a new backup set, and then run a backup. Check if it completes successfully.

If the problem persists, you can try uninstall and reinstall using Norton remove & reinstall tool:

Thank you for all you help.  It took an unistall and reinstall to sort.  Happy machine now.

Hi bonbon1.

As far as I am aware once N360 has backed up a file it should, in theory not back it up again unless is changes.  But sometimes it seems to do something different....

How are you detecting this issue?  How large a backup does Preview say you should have and how large a backup have you got?

Hi thanks for the answer and your thoughts are the same as mine.

During the back up I can see the files it is backing up and it is files that have already been backed up.

it seems to be performing a new back up every time.

Hello again bonbon1.

So you are seeing the files being named on the bar as the backup runs....  Is that why you think they are being backed up again?

I am trying to gather information on this issue that may be of use to the Norton team in trying to get the issue sorted.  Can you provide answers to the following questions?

1 - How many backup sets do you have?

2 - With the backup that is troubling you, what size does the Backup "Preview" facility say the backup should be?

3- How large is the actual backup on the destination drive?  (If you have only one backup set it will be the size of the N360_BACKUP folder in the root of the destination drive.)

4 - When was this backup first set up and how do you run it?  (Is it manual, timed or automatic?)

I look forward to hearing back from you.
