Backup Question

I have just purchased Norton 360 and am attempting to set up my back-up file.  I use a flash drive to backup on.  Is it possible (or how do I) automatically delete (overwrite) the existing backup on the flash drive during the backup?  Do I have to manually have to delete the file prior to running the backup?

Thanks for your help.

Hi jmkesquire -

If you want to double check what is actually backed up from both computers you can go to the Norton Backup Drive.  The Norton Backup Drive is a virtual drive representing all of the files that are backed up that your computer can access.

For the case of online simply navigate to the My Computer -> Norton Backup Drive -> Secure Online Storage.

From here you should be able to see all of the backup sets that are tied to your Norton Account (even if they are not on your current computer).  If you happen to have data online that you don't expect (perhaps if some data was backed up from your 2nd computer before you disabled backup) then you can also delete it from the Norton Backup Drive by right clicking the backup set or files/folders and selecting delete.

Please be aware that these operations may take some time as it is actually going out to retrieve the catalog of backed up data.

Let us know if this resolves your issue.

Thanks.

Hi uudeem,

From your question i am assuming that your Flash drive already contains Backup sets and you want to delete them to create new backup set. Is that right?

If so, then please do the following for deleting the already existing backup set,

1. Go to Manage Backup sets from Main UI>>Backup Pillar.

2. Go to Where tab and select the Flash drive

3. If your drive contains already backed up sets, then this link will be enabled..."Delete Backed up Files"

4. Clicking this link will list you the files which are already backed up.

5. Select all your files and click 'Delete Selected'

So, once this is done you can freshly backup your files again to the Flash drive.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Ashwini.
