After a crash earlier this year i moved a backupset to an new second hd in my computer.
Now i want to unpack the backup set but Nortin 360 doesn't recognise it. The dutch support desk told me that a backupset isn't usable because it was moved. I have little hope that the guys from NL-support are wrong, yet i'll try.
The support desk may be right but in the circumstances it might be worth trying a little experiment.
First - all N360 backup sets expect to live in a root folder called -
N360_BACKUP
Is that where you have put yours? If not you might like to put the backup folders into a root folder of that name.
How many folders have you got in your backup set? The folder names should be something like -
{9AB5473C-0524-414B-B73E-0185FDECE589}
Are there any files in the directory along with the folders mentioned above? Ideally you are looking for two files -
arestore.loc, and
arestore.exe
If these files are not in the N360_BACKUP directory look for them in your N360 setup on your HD and copy them to the folder.
Once you have done that you might like to report back. Or if you are feeling bold you might like to try running the -
arestore.exe from within N360_BACKUP and see what happens. It might offer to restore your files for you.
I hope that helps. Do let us know how you get on.
P.S. As you say that you moved the files to the new computer, presumably you still have them on the old medium and that is accessible. Why not restore them from there?
