Backup - unable to contact the online backup service

Have this problem. Norton blames my interenet connection, but is perfect, and liveupdate has no problems.

Norton Version: 3.5.2.11

System: WinXP Home SP3

You have the latest version of Norton 360, so that's fine.

Did accessing the online backup service work properly beforehand? 

I have seen some notifications on online backup maintenance during the past days, but there is no current notification posted at the moment. There may be an issue with the online service; I would suggest asking Symantec Customer Service - you can chat with them for free at the link below - whether the online backup service is currently disrupted:
