Backup using too many DVDs

I have Norton 360 v2.5 and I just did a manual backup. I checked the boxes for quick backup and only chose a few files. It said that I would need only one 4Gb DVD. Nine hours and 16 DVD-Rs later it finished. Any ideas?

Ouch!

 

Personally when backing up I prefer, for speed and to prevent surpises and having to be there to change media, to make the backup to a hard drive and then burn from there, either setting the backup software to make CD/DVD sized files or letting the burning software do that.

 

I know that doesn't help you avoid the problem but I'm sure you'll get some help on this.

Before you ran the backup how big did the bacup UI report that the backup set would be?

It said it was under 4 gigs and needing only one DVD! That’s why I’m perplexed.

Can you insert the last DVD of the set and start the restore UI? I would like to see what backup thinks is in the set.
