I have the red X on the norton tray icon, I go to fix, it starts it's thing and backs up a bit then stops and gives me the following message:
So I click the more info and get this
Now when I boot up My PC there is absolutely NOTHING that starts up other than Norton's without me going in and starting it. As soon as I boot I try to run this back up and still get NOTHING but the same message everytime. There is nothing explaining what it is that is running to stop this from doing a back up. Thats a major product flaw in itself.
Yes I am using Nortons V1, from what I have read here about V2 I don't think I want to upgrade to it. compunding a bad program with another one isn't my cup of tea. Mind you, I have always supported and recommened Norton's as the very best in virus protection but this 360 is an all around headache more than it is anything else.
As for the file extentions, I can't get the screen to enlarge past what you see in the pictures, theres no way to see what the extentions are or from where they are coming from. It worked perfectly up to the point that I got the red x for the backup which is about a week ago now. I will try to run it again and see if I can get more info tomorrow and I will post it or send it in pm. Any help I can get is appreciated.
I appreciate reading this thread. I was having the same problem (why it was OK before I don't understand) but I now picked specifiic files and it finally did the backup. Thanks.

Lynn
First, these files look like they are in a really strange folder
They are in My documents, They appear to be MSN messenger share folder files. there are about 12 of them there that 360 won't back up, which do not need to be backed up, nor can you tell it NOT to back them up.
If you don't need these files to be backed up then you can go into the Backup Configuration UI and open the list of files for the category that the file falls under (I can't see the extension of the file in the screenshot, so i can't tell you which category it would fall under. If you give me that information I can let you know.)
Configuration UI? I went to back up settings and there wasn't an option for it. They don't show up under any of the tabs I have selected for back up as I went through each to deselect the files that don't need backing up. These files DO NOT show up on any of the back up lists
The program locking them is Messenger and it does not run unless I tell it to run so there is no program to close.
WickedDeath,
I responded to the private message you sent me. I think that once we figure out why those files are being included and then exclude them you will be all set.
Once we figure out the details of your particular issue I will post any relevant information on the resolution back to the forum.
Thank,
Adam
Adam
I have exactly the same issue as Wicked Death. Is there a resolution? You said that you would post information back here
greeny,
WickedDeath is going to upgrade to v2.0 and see how he fares. What version of n360 are you using?
Regards,
Adam
Correct me if i'm wrong, but you're running N360 v1, right? If that's the case, then i have a couple of suggestions:
First, these files look like they are in a really strange folder. Are they files that are important to your backup or just something that N360 happens to be picking up based on its rules? If you don't need these files to be backed up then you can go into the Backup Configuration UI and open the list of files for the category that the file falls under (I can't see the extension of the file in the screenshot, so i can't tell you which category it would fall under. If you give me that information I can let you know.) Once the list of files is open you can find the files that are not backing up in the list and and deselect them so that they will not be backed up in the future.
Second, the most likely reason that these files are not being backed up is because another program has them locked. Again, if i know the extension of the files I might be able to lend you some assistance with regards to what program might be locking them. If you close the program that is locking the files, then N360 should be able to back them up successfully.
