I have a strange experience with Norton 360 backing up on random SD cards that go through my computer. I have set my backup location to be on an external hard drive, so I don't understand why 21GB backup files appear on other ext. hard drives and random SD cards. Please, do someone know how to stop this madness?
I have not encountered this but it sounds to me as if Norton is remembering the drive letter of the place you chose and when the next backup is run the lettering has changed due to devices being attached and un-attached. My suggestion would be to set your backup to run only in manual mode and for you to check before running it that the drive that it is pointing at is the right one.
Setting the backups to manual (if that is not how they are currently set) can by done through N360 - Backup - Manage Backup Sets - Select relevant set (if more than one) - When (select manual).
The drive letter can be checked/changed from N360 - Backup - Manage Backup Sets - Where (you may want to select the "Refresh List" option near the top centre of the display before selecting).
Sorry, I think I was a bit fast in accepting a solution. I guess your post is more of an explanation. However the idea of disabling the automatic backup seems like an idea that would work.
