i have had this happen TWICE now on 2 different computers. the first time i passed it off as a hard drive problem. now i have encountered it a second time im not so sure.
symptom: computer suddenly runs SLOW and programs will not open. upon running chkdsk the following bad sector is found in the veryfying file data stage.
progra~3\norton\{0c55c~1\NIS_17~1.19\logs\symnet~1.DAT
upon replacing this bad sector norton is compromised.
when this happened on first system i deletded nortons and am now using Mcaphee WHICH I Hate
this has now happened on the second system with about a 2 month gap between.
they are both on the same wireless network.
it has been EXACTLY the same file which has had the bad sector.
on this second system the problem seems to have occurred when trying to open a exec file to run a steam game. nortons came up with a block saying it has blocked the exec file. after that the system just failed.
system works fine in safe and safe w/network and c/ only hard drive sounds like its working over time when trying to run .
no steam games or system is instaklled on the first computer.
