Base Filtering Engine

I can't find it on my computer and I need it to stop this Norton message coming up everytime I log onto my laptop!

I also had the problem of error 5013,3 and no Base Filtering Engine.  This is my config:

Windows 7 Home premium Service Pack 1 Toshiba Intel celeron CPU 1.6 GHz  4GB ram  64-bit Norton 360 v6.2.1.57

I followed the bit about putting the Base Filtering Engine file onto my desktop, double clicked it and got ... got distracted and didn't record it! but roughly 'the entry has been put in the registry'.

Is that ok, or am I taking a risk jumping into someone else's cure?

Man it's been a while since I was involved in this thread, but let me see if I can help.  You lost me when you said you didn't "record it".  If you in fact got the entry in the registry and you know where you left off in the instructions, then please do continue from that point.

 

We have used these instructions in similar situations on different systems - so it is not like the malware/trojan removal where the circumstances could be different on each system.  In this case a file is missing and needs to be added.

 

Let us know if you need any addtional help or if you can figure out where you left off and continue.

It can be due to zeroaccess or similar families

 

There are 2 threads with it and Norton gives that error code.

I followed your directions to replace my missing Windows Base Filtering Engine File.

 

It has been stored in my registry.

Now to see if it will allow things to work as they should.
