Being spamed on Email (Outlook)

I'm receiving lots & lots of, (some horribly filthy), on our outlook Email
They are only directed at me it seems.  I don't know why Norton hasn't
stopped them.  Please help!

You can also download this.  http://www.mailwasher.net/

I use it, and once set up, it's very simple to use.

You then view your emails on the server, and delete the ones you don't want, and download the ones you do !

Hi Paula. Something else for you to think about is changing your email name. ***Traditionally, most users have their full name in their email address. So if my real name is joe smith (it's not,) my email address would be joe.smith(AT)xyz.com. The problem with that is that these spammers/phishers etc have sophisticated computer equipment which can search nearly every combination of most first names and surnames. Finding yours is easy-peasy - a technical term!!

What I did with my email address was to change it from the traditional to a phonetic version - so instead of joe.smith(at)xyz.com it's now jayess(at)xyz.com. Yours might then become pjaybee(at)xyz.com.

The number of spam/phishing emails I now get daily has dropped from 40-50 to single figures and these are as a result of some of my friends being careless.

So give it a try - it really does work.

*** If your email address follows the traditional firstname.surname at etc, that's bad for another reason  - we might be able to guess what it is from the name you are using here, so Tip #2 is to change your account name here!

PS Some police forces have cybercrime units. If yours does, report it to them too. They may not be interested in taking action but at least you've done it. And when you've resolved all this, see if your local newspaper is interested in running an article. The more who know about the pitfalls of traditional email addresses, the better!

Good luck, and I hope this helps.

If an email is addressed to you [individually] Norton is likely to pass it through regardless of content.

You need to use your Outlook filters to block these messages. You might also contact your ISP and ask them to ban the sender
