Best way to back up C: Drive

Ok.  I just cleared out my old, partial backup and will be backing up from scratch.

My main goal is to backup my C: drive which has Windows 7, 64 bit OS and also has some 3d programs (DAZ Studio in particular, also Carrara) which require hundreds of individual file installations.  Needless to say, it would be an enormous pain to have to reinstall everything from scratch in the event of a problem.

So does Norton Ghost 15 give you a way to create a backup that I could simply 'drop in place' in case my C: drive were to perish?  (or is that how things work by default?)

Wasn't sure if I could just select my target and destination drives and set to backup or if I needed to do something else.

Thanks for any suggestions.
