Best way to get add another NIS installation beyond three?

I have a three user pack of which I have installed on three systems already.

I have a new PC coming soon on which I will install NIS.  I have both the NIS09 and NIS10 standalone installers.

What’s the best way to get an additional installation for the new PC?

(A)  Install NIS and when it asks me to activate say that I need to buy a license?

(B)  Purchase the 3 user pack NIS10 upgrade download from Symantec for $49.99 USD?

If I do A, will it be a 1-pack or a 3-pack license?  If a 1-pack, then how much will it cost?

If I do either and wish to install NIS09, will the NIS10 product keys work to activate NIS09?  (Otherwise, I can just go down to Staples or Best Buy and pick up NIS09.)

Thanks.

I would have thought so, but NIS09 is still selling at the regular prices.  Of course, if I wait, I will probably be able to get a clearance price.  But I will need NIS next week or so.

I think that the last time I checked, the price for 1 additional license was higher than 1/3 of the three user price, so that's why I suggested a new retail version.

You could also check some online retailers.

I'd wait until the last minute and do what's best financially from what's available. Amazon apparently says on its website the 2010 will be deliverable September 30 ......

Keep an eye on the store flyers -- I get email access to a couple of the obvious ones a few days before they are actually delivered with the papers so you might consider signing up for email from them and know a day or two early.

If you upgrade or renew direct with Symantec I gather you get what you had -- if it was a 3PC then you get 3PC or if it was 1PC you get 1PC when you renew. With the stores you get what's on the box and if you are lucky can easily get down to a ludicrous price if it includes the Symantec mail-in rebate as well as any store or other discounts/rebates.

It's a shame that Symantec don't offer a jump upgrade from say 3PC to the 5PC version which I've seen in the stores even. With netbooks and multi-PC families and with WIN7 not doing a direct takeover upgrade of XP (I'll certainly be running XP and WIN 7 in parallel on different computers since I've built a new one for WIN 7) I'm sure that there will be a home demand for more than 3 PC versions.
