Well V22.5 was quite a fiasco. Several days ago I decided to try the new version BUT decided, as usual, to update my old XP system first before subjecting my new Windows 8.1 system to possible issues. Like others I immediately found dozens of Quarantined items - all things that had been on my system for years. Not to panic, I decided to wait a few days and check the forum. Sure enough there is a "fix" posted. Following the instructions; Step 1; I downloaded and ran the Intelligent Updater, and rebooted the system. Step 2; Opened up the Quarantine ...and was shocked to see it was empty, along with all the history. I could only remember a few of the quarantined exe files, so what to do? I then discovered those programs were working again! I assume Norton restored those for me, because everything I try is working fine. A mystery to me.
ADVICE: In the new interface, which I like, under Settings/Administrative Settings there is a new entry - "Automatic Download of New Version". I turned this off. I have long made a practice of not being a guinea pig for any software supplier. Let others try, check the forums, then update when safe. Even if the XP system had worked right, no way I would have installed on my 8.1 system without checking the forum. In fact, I'm still going to wait a while. Shame on Symantec for automatically updating any versions.
Same goes for Windows 10 update - I need my system to run EVERY DAY.
