Hello outside_look_in,

If you could supply some information we may be able to help.

Would you please indicate which Norton Product, your Operating System and any Service Packs. Also, did you have a previous Norton product installed or a different brand?

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Phil_D, thanks for the reply.

I had my computer shop fit a new board, power supply, clear the HD and install a fresh copy of XP (SP2 I think) and NIV 2008 - tantamount to a 'new' pc, so I hope no previous software is relevent. However since my message to you I had this pc switched off and instead used my spare WinMe pc, then low and behold when I switched this pc on again to access this forum Norton was fully functional again, panic over I guess.

Thanks once again for your interest, cheers.
