I noticed that my Norton Internet Security 2010 comes up blank. Everything seems to be working, but I have no way to tell. I first noticed the problem when logging in to a website and the Norton Password icons were missing from Explorer tool bar, which is also blank. I tried to run liveupdate from the start menu, but nothing happens. When I click the Norton Internet Security icon all I get is an empty white box in the center of the screen. I clicked "Get Support" from the start menu and O got a white box with a black bar at the top and a yellow progress bar in the center. The progress bar ran across the screen to the end and stopped with no options or any information. I am running Windows 7 on an Intel quad core system. My Windows is fully up to date and until a couple of days ago, so was Norton.
Thank you very much for the response and the welcome! According to control panel my NIS version is:17.6.0.32. I originally installed NIS 2009 from CD, and updated to 2010 shortly after installing last October. I installed NIS after loading Windows 7 on a new computer. The NIS I used was a three user version which had one install left on it. The subscription expired in January and I renewed the subscription then, so I should have had about nine months left on my subscription. Since I updated the original install twice, I really don't want to uninstall and reinstall. I read the info contained in the link and it may pertain to my problem, but I didn't run live update at the time, though my NIS may have updated to the questionable update via live update. I originally noticed the issue when I tried to manually run live update, and the liveupdate window came up blank. I then clicked the NIS icon with the same result.
Again, thank you for the response. I only hope that there is some way to fix this other than having to uninstall and reinstall...
Uninstall 17.6 using the Add/Remove from Control Panel or the Uninstall from the START menu listing for Norton. Choose to save your passwords and settings during the uninstall.
Install the downloaded program and and activate it. (It should pick up you subscription key right away from the saved settings.). Reboot your system and reconnect to the internet. Run Live Update to get the patch to 17.6
