Blocked PC APP in Using Norton Family are still accessible

Hi, we have blocked a few PC app through Norton Family including TLauncher/ Hitfilm express. However, from times to time we still getting alert from Norton Family that the app are installed/ uninstalled. We checked in the PC, the app has been deleted. We tried to contact Norton support, they reckon the kid install/ uninstall them again and again. However, there was time i was sitting in front of the PC when the alert pop up so there was not installation/ uninstallation going on.

  1. Does anyone experience this and if it is possible some of the websites (watching series/ game sites) would trigger installation/ uninstallation of the app?
  2. If what Norton support say is true ie kid install/ uninstall, if there is any setting in Norton Family can stop them? (note: i have turned on the App Supervision)

Hi ENC,

Thank you for reaching out to Norton Family.

For the applications you had suggested, there could be frequent updates happened in the background resulting in timely install/uninstall alerts. We are analyzing ways to improve the alerting mechanism when any windows application is installed/uninstalled on the device in our future releases.

In the mean time, if you would like to stop receiving e-mail alerts for any application install/uninstall on devices, you could login to Norton Family Web Portal. Select your Child -> View Profile -> Navigate to "Parental Email Notifications" section -> UnCheck "<Child_Name> installs or uninstalls an app on any device" option and Save the settings.

Thanks,
Norton Family Team
