Blocking of outgoing emails

I have been using Norton 360 for a long time without problems. However, I have just hit a major problem.

I have just finished catching up with a backlog of messages, in the course of which I responded to 15 of them. When I pressed send/receive, I received a message from Norton to the effect that I was sending too many messages at once, so the last five of them were not sent. However, I cannot find the blocked ones anywhere on my email system - they seem to have disappeared.

I am really furious about this, as I have no record of what the blocked messages were or even who I was sending them to. I was unaware that Norton would block more than ten messages at once - no warning was given.

Is there any way of retrieving these messages?

Norton, rather than your email client, displays email notifications from your ISP.  This would be, as peterweb indicated, an antispam measure imposed by your ISP limiting the number of messages that can be sent at any one time.

Thank you gentlemen - that explains it. Since the pop-up box was from Norton, I assumed that it was a Norton action.
