Blue screen following NIS 2011 install

I had Avira Antivirus installed on my system. I uninstalled, rebooted, and installed NIS 2011. It worked fine initially, but now I'm getting "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" BSOD's on every boot. This occurs in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Known Good, and even when trying to run a repair installation.

Is there a way to remove Norton using the recovery console? Recovery console seems to be my ONLY option.

It is most common with that particular BSOD that you may have one or more faulty RAM modules!

Hello brady

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum

Your problem might  have been caused by the incomplete removal of Avira if you removed it only by using the control panel method without the use of their removal tool.

Perhaps if you can,  maybe the suggestions in this link may help you.

Please come back and let us know how you made out.

i partially agree with that, that BSOD can be a memory problem. but if his computer is running fine (i presume, he is running windows) than its more likely a software issue. be sure to inform us about what happens after you use the avira removal tool and try to install nis.

Hi

Hope you got rid off from the error that you mentioned. Just in case if you still have the same error, here is a link from Microsoft talks about some resolutions. As you know, there are multiple reasons behind this error. It can be because of the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware as well. Please let me know if this doesn't work!
