The last three days my computer gotten a blue screen of death. The BSOD has appeared during idle time. According to the BSOD, an attempt to access the hard drive was stopped. I have not installed any new software of hardware recently.
My PC is a Dell XPS 410. I called Dell. They debugged the computer and check the minidumps associated with the BSOD. The Dell tech said NIS 2009 was causing the problem. I either needed to uninstall and reinstall the NIS 2009 or get a fix from Norton and install that.
Will I chatted with a Norton tech. He was adamant that NIS 2009 was not the problem. While chatting, I ran an internet search on the problem and found users who had experienced similar problems. The Norton tech then suggested it could be the operating system. He suggested that I uninstall and reinstall my operating system. My operating is windows XP Professional with SP 3.
I have no idea what to do at this point. Can anybody shed any light on this problem? It seems it has been experienced by other Norton users. Is there a fix for this problem? Is it or is it not caused by NIS 2009?
Thanks in advance for your help.
