Blue Screen Of Death -Norton Internet Security

Hi,

Where can I get help as to why NIS 20.4 Is crashing my Windows XP Pro system.

Crash report attached

The crash report you provided gives no indication that Norton is involved. The file noted is hal.dll which is a Windows system file. As there may be something wrong with your Windows installation, you should run a scan to check this.

Click on Start and type CMD in the search box. Right click on cmd.exe and click on Run as Administrator. Type 'sfc /scannow' without the quotes. This will check your Windows installation and try to correct any errors it finds.

Thank you PeterWeb for your response.

I had Norton Internet Security 19.9 running perfectly in conjunction with malwarebytes pro up untill about 10 to 14 days ago when a  Norton live update resulted in the BSOD.

I disabled and removed Malwarebytes in addition to a lot of other software., updated drivers that required attention, replaced system files, dlls, ran every type of malware scan, online virus scans, etc.removed Norton 19 via norton removal tool (did that  three times) and installed NIS 20.4 via norton installer.Same problem ending in BSOD

WHOCRASHED indicated that it was a symantec problem that was causing the crash but i deleted the crash report in error.

I removed Norton and replaced it with free Antivirus and firewall which is now working the finest without any BSOD OR ANY OTHER PROBLEM.

I have over 300 days left in Norton and I want to be able to use it again.

I am willing to reinstall Norton and run whatever testing that may be required.

Another utility I like to use is Blue Screen View by Nirsoft.  http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

You will be able to see reports on previous BSODs. See if you can find the one related to your Norton issue.

You seem to have made many changes to your system, so it might be worth reinstalling Norton again. Be sure you fully remove whatever AV you installed using the utility from that company.
