Ever since I started using Norton Internet Security 2010 I have had intermittent problems with the Blue Screen Of Death. Previously I had Norton Internet Security 2009 installed and all worked well. I used the Norton uninstall tool before loading the 2010 software. After having this problem for awhile I tried reformatting the computer but after reloading software, files and Norton Internet Security 2010 the problem continues. The code on the blue screen is 0x0000000A. It shows up infrequently. When I turn off the computer using the button on the CPU and restart all works well until it happens again. Sometimes when I push the button to turn off the computer after the blue screen has shown up the fan starts racing wildly and I have to unplug the computer to get it to stop.
There is another symptom also. Until recently when I did a full system scan I would have about 450,000 items scanned. Recently it has dropped to 304,000 items scanned and today it was 65,000. Symantec tech support took remote control of my computer today and uninstalled and reinstalled Norton Internet Security 2010 but later in the day when I did a full scan I got only 65,000 items scanned. Some time after that I got the same old Blue Screen of Death.
From my research it seems likely that there is a conflict between Norton and some drivers on the computer but I have no idea how to resolve this or whether there is some other conflict going on.
Can anyone help solve this??
